Skoda Fabia simply feels nice. Simple things like the expensive looking remote control key fob, the solid thunk when the car door shuts and the good sound system prep you for the week ahead. The solid European feel of the car makes you look good and drives away the Monday morning blues.
The 1.2 Elegance has short gear ratios and rather free-revving engine with good amount of torque. This means it never feels slow in traffic but feels preppy once you cross the 3000 rpm. It is a great town car. The clutch is light and the seats are comfortable. It also has an auxiliary port so you can even plug in your iPod. Although absence of rear speakers is a hindrance. That said with five people on board , you do have to dial up a few revs and slip the clutch a bit to get moving. The Fabia's gearshift is one of the best around -smooth , slick and very positive. You'll be shifting gears just for the heck of it .
Fuel efficiency is all right when you see how heavy this car actually is.A car for people who need a small hatchback but do not want to feel as if they have taken a huge step down from their big car.
