Toyota Fortuner 2016
Expected Launch Date:
Toyota has pushed back the launch of the second generation Fortuner from 2016 to the beginning of 2017. Unveiled earlier this year and currently being sold in Thailand and Australia, the car will come to India more than a year after its global launch. The reason for pushing behind the launch is that Toyota wants to localise the manufacturing as much as possible and hence launch the SUV at an attractive price.
The car will compete against the Chevrolet Trailblazer and Mitsubishi Pajero when launched. The new car will be fitted with the new GD series diesel engines- a 2.4 litre turbo engine and another is the 2.8 litre turbo engine.
The car will have 148 bhp and 40.78 kgm of torque for the 2.4 litre engine and 175 bhp and 45.9 kgm torque for the 2.8 litre engine. It will be fitted with a 6 speed manual and automatic transmission.
The exterior of the new car is more in line with the design internationally . With a new bonnet and bumper design.
It seems that Toyota wants to focus on the all new Innova in 2016 and then it will set it sights on the Fortuner in 2017.
