Wheels carry the load of the car. The are generally made out of pressed mild-steel. The wheel has a broad base rim on which tyres are fitted. Tyres provide grip to the road surface and cope with considerable strain on account of acceleration, cornering and braking. Attached to the wheels are four brake drums, which are parts of the braking system. Most of the cars have hydraulic braking system where pressing of the brake pedal forces brake fluid to reach the brake drums through pipelines. The pressure of the brake fluid opens up the brake liners within the brake drum attached to the wheel. The speed, thus, reduces because of the friction created. Maintenance: To avoid sudden break failures it is advisable to change the fluid after recommended use, check for leakage in pipe-lines, master-cylinder or in the brake fluid reservoir.
