Kia EV9 Rendering Previews<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Kia has big plans for an electric future. After teasing nine upcoming EV models with darkened silhouettes, the Korean automaker then announced that by 2026 it would have 11 electric cars in its arsenal. This week, Kia revealed the EV6 and after we found some leaked trademark filings, it appears Kia plans to use EV1 up to EV9 for its new range of EVs.<\/p>\n

\nIn November last year, Kia previewed its largest and most luxurious electric vehicle to date with the EV9 concept. This machine is currently under development. We\u2019ve seen a number of spy photos with the EV9 and now have a look at the final design of the family hauler.<\/p>\n

We believe this is an accurate preview of the battery-powered SUV and compared to the concept, the production-spec EV9 will likely lose the chiseled fenders and slab sides. Overall, the shape will remain almost unchanged and will continue to be upright and boxy.<\/p>\n

Design: Teasers of the EV9 from earlier this month showed the vehicle will get vertical taillights, matching the layout of the headlights at the front. The side profile features a flat roofline and a relatively small greenhouse, which creates a dynamic overall feeling. Pop-out door handles supplement the sleek design language and reduce wind resistance.<\/p>\n

Platform & Power: We expect the EV9 to ride on an expanded version of the E-GMP platform that underpins the EV6. The EV6 comes with single or dual-motor setups, producing 215 or 302 horsepower, respectively. In a Telluride-sized vehicle, we’d expect a minimum of 302 hp and all-wheel-drive to be included as standard. Kia has not indicated its reveal schedule, so we have no way of knowing when the EV9 will officially debut.The production EV9 will be based on the E-GMP platform shared with the EV6. Kia hasn\u2019t revealed technical details yet, though we believe the production version will have similar specs to the concept. The prototype had an estimated range of 300 miles (483 kilometers) and projected acceleration to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in the low five-second range.<\/p>\n

Cabin specs:<\/strong> <\/span>We don\u2019t have much to report about the EV9\u2019s interior, but as indicated by the sources, it will feature an optional seven-seat configuration.<\/p>\n

Prices<\/strong><\/span> should begin at around $50,000.<\/p>\n

Tentative Launch:<\/strong><\/span> The model is currently undergoing final testing at the automaker\u2019s Namyang research and development center in South Korea, and we hope to learn more about it in the coming weeks. The full and official debut is planned for early next year with sales to kick off in the second quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n
