Tata Curvv EV launchedTata’s concept EV – Curvv launched
Tata Motors has unveiled yet another concept EV – Curvv. The first glance we can conclude that it looks bold. According to Tata Motors , its production model will hit Indian roads in 2 years with an electric powertrain first. Tata Motors has been investing in its EV portfolio. Being a mid-size SUV, the Curvv would sit above the Tata Nexon in the existing EV lineup from the company.

SUV Focus  : It is no secret that SUVs are the flavour of the season and have been for a while now. Tata has four SUVs in its lineup catering to almost all kinds of requirements. The smallest of the lot is Punch while Safari covers the top-end. The Tata Curvv concept is based on a newer Generation 2 platform and is the first Tata product to do so. Other vehicles based on this new platform will also have EV and ICE versions. However, Generation 3 will be purely electric.

The Curvv follows the company’s new design language – Less is More. The car uses straight lines and a minimalistic design theme. However, it is a loud design on the whole, with a sharply sloping roofline that makes for a coupe-like silhouette. Over to the front face, a strong LED light bar sits beneath the bonnet.

Design :
The architecture will be capable of hosting an IC engine as well. In fact, the new electric powertrain is confirmed to have multiple energy regeneration levels. The ability to fit two individual motors on both axles is also a possibility with this platform. However, expect the production-spec Curvv to feature an FWD layout as standard.

Frameless windows a sunroof : Another fancy touch on the Tata Curvv can be seen in the form of frameless windows on all doors. As is the case with most vehicles these days, the Tata Curvv also has a panoramic sunroof. It lets in a lot of light and give the cabin a more spacious feel.

Power & All-wheel-drive: Talking of driving range, it is claimed to be around 450-500 km on a single charge. The Ev is intending to use a larger battery pack , a more efficient motor, lower aerodynamic drag coefficient, and multi-level regenerative braking. This new platform that underlines the Tata Curvv concept has the potential to accommodate multiple motors. This can open up possibilities to have individual motors on both axles and allow for an all-wheel-drive system.

Uniqueness: The Curvv EV will also offer V2L and V2V charge dynamics eg. transferring charge from one vehicle to another will be a possibility with the Curvv.

Interiors :
A modern layout with two separate screens for the instrument console and infotainment unit. Moreover, the production-spec model will come with touch-enabled HVAC controls and a panoramic sunroof. Another highlight of the Concept Curvv remains its notchback-style boot lid and the coupe-like roofline. The steering wheel is a flat bottom unit with backlit controls on either side.

Adjustable regenerative braking

All models in Tata Motor’s Generation 2 portfolio will come with multiple levels of regenerative braking. They will also allow users the capability to completely switch off regenerative braking as well. On top of this, the regen braking system will also be improved upon.

Tata Motors has plans to have a total of 10 EVs in their portfolio by 2025 and these will consist of products from all three generations.
