Hyundai Aura...a Vehicle with Cosmetic changes ?? [Jan 22, 2020]
The word `Aura` suggests the distinctive atmosphere or quality that seems to surround and be generated by a person, thing, or place.Hyundai Motor India launched the Hyundai Aura and the design team wishes to offer such distinctive quality to the buyers.
However the designs lacks the same. Just like new Hyundai Xcent Front look of the car is not quite impressive whereas the improvement is visible at the rear . Like Xcent, this new vehicle is not expected to catch strong buyer fancy the way old Accent enjoyed huge fan following.
The Aura is minor deviation from the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios hatchback .Such strategy of Hyundai Motor Company, to launch vehicles with minor changes will prove to be a long term disaster
It shares a similar front end with the hatch and gets the same headlamps and front bodywork. Minor changes are the twin DRLs, a honeycomb pattern for the Hyundai cascading grille and a different bumper which extends the grille further via a slim air-dam. The fog lamp inserts are different as well. The vehicle gets a sweeping coupe-like roofline from around the C-pillar, which is blacked out for more effect. This merges with an upswept edge to the top of the bootlid, below which are the large angular headlamps. These are chrome-lined and get full-LED treatment. In the rear-section, the number plate is placed on the rear-bumper with deep inserts for the reflectors.
The 1.2-litre petrol just like Grand i10 Nios continues here with the same outputs, 83PS and 113Nm, but the engine now is BSVI-compliant. The 1.2-litre U2 diesel has also been upgraded to be BSVI compliant with the addition of a Lean NOx Trap (LNT), power figures are the same at 75PS and 190Nm. The new addition to the range , is the 1-litre turbo petrol adopted from the Venue.which is detuned to 100PS, while the torque output remains unchanged at 172Nm. Both petrol and diesel engines can be had with a five-speed manual and an AMT. As per the company claims, the petrol provides 20.5 kmpl, which increases to 25.4 kmpl for the diesel.
The interiors of Auro marginally differ from that of Nios with some bronze inserts and a rear armrest. There a similar features-set with an 8-inch infotainment screen with Arkamys Sound and Android Auto/Apple Car Play, cruise control, wireless charging push-button start and a rear-view camera.
It is believed that the Hyundai Aura will replace the Xcent. It competes with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Tata Tiago, Honda Amaze and Ford Aspire.
