Tata unveils the all new Zica [Dec 02, 2015]
In a bid to plug in all the gaps in its product portfolio in the various small car segments , Tata has recently unveiled the pictures of its upcoming car 'Zica'. Codenamed as 'Kite' till now, the Zica will be slotted between the Nano and the Bolt.
The new car has absolutely fresh and new styling cues and the first look shows that designers at Tata have got the styling spot on. This car is the latest in the HorizonNext Campaign taken up by Tata and will be promoted by its brand ambassador Lionel Messi. The car will compete against other entry level B segment cars in India such as the Maruti WagonR, Maruti Celerio , Chevrolet Beat and the Hyundai i10.
The car is expected to offered with two engine options - the new 1.05 litre 3 cylinder diesel engine with optional AMT and peak power of 70 PS. The second engine will be the 1.2 Revotron petrol motor with peak power of 80 PS. The petrol engine is expected to come with manual transmission only.
In the front the car has the trademark Tata honeycomb grille and Tata has added projector headlamps and halogen lamps which is a cherry on the cake in this segment and adds to the overall look. The Zica also gets reverse parking sensors which is a segment first. A hitch in the design is that the car looks very very similar to the Grand i10 from the rear. But overall , the proportions are well balanced to give it a wholesome look.
From the few details reveled till now, we have gathered that Tata has put effort in making the interiors quite upmarket. So there will be two tone dashboard in grey and black and higher variants will get chrome and silver highlights. The steering wheel is the same as its elder siblings the Bolt and the Zest and there is a manual airconditioner. Entertainment and connectivity options include - double-din audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, the unit is expected to be a Harman one and boasts 4 speakers - another segment first!
It is expected that Tata will launch the car before the Auto Expo in January 2016. The car is expected to be launched with a starting price of Rs. 3.5 lacs.
