Future car Allard

Sydney Allard made the trials special in 1930s using a Ford Pilot V8 engine and chassis, with divided axle independent front suspension and a simple open two-seater body.

In the 1940s Allard produced a variety of related models.

J1:-

It was a short wheelbase, two seater with lightweight competition.

K1:-

It was sightly longer and more accommodating.

L:-

It was longer than the K1 and was fitted with four seats. But it was not very practical.

M1:-

This car had a much practical body and a two door saloon.

P1:-

This car closely followed the M1. It was used by Sydney Allard himself to win the Monte Carlo Rally in 1952. He proved here that though the cars were becoming more civilized performance was still there.

J2:-

This car was specially catered for those who wanted out and out performance.

Ford V8 was a standard with Allard, but in Britan, for performance a 3.9 litre Mercury unit was used.

In US the Allards were powered by Cadillac, Oldsmobile or Chrysler V8s giving the cars an awesome acceleration.

By the 1950s Allard introduced more classy and sophisticated models with coil-spring suspension and modern styling. But Allard cars ceased production in 1959, as it struggled to meet the competition put up by companies in the likes of Jaguar, which could produce cars in much greater numbers and dent many specialist manufacturers on price while offering similar performance.
