Bajaj aims to be No.1 with the new youth centric Hamara Bajaj

“The old Hamara Bajaj was typically middle class and based on relationship and emotions. But, the new Hamara Bajaj is focused on youth. We now want to be number one not only on but across the world,” said S Shridhar CEO, two-wheelers of Bajaj Auto.
“Its not just about the fading scooter market but also about changing definitions. Our definition has now changed and we are more ambition now. We want to focus on the markets that will make us number one,” said Sridhar, who was in Vadodara to launch the new Pulsar Light Sports bike. The bike has been launched for the first time on the regional level. Bajaj felt that the city had an ideal market and right kind of consumers for their product and hence, chose the city over Ahmedabad for the launch.
Bajaj is aiming to become a specialist motorbike maker also increase its exports to other countries. “Our aim is to become world’s number one motorbike company by 2015. We have made lot of detailed plans to reach our target,” Shridhar added.
Bajaj has about 50% market share in performance segment bikes in and with the launch of this new model the company hopes to take the number to 65% by next year. In Gujarat too, Bajaj has 34% market hare in performance segment.”
